Spring Greening Fair in Skokie

Skokie’s third annual Spring Greening, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 7, is a free community fair to promote sustainable and green living. The event showcases green living opportunities such as home insulation, organic lawn care, eco-friendly paint products, green builders, electric cars, worm composting and wind turbines.

This year, 23 recycling stations will be accepting household items, including clothing, batteries, extension cords, bicycles, electronics, medications and more.

The Howard Street Talking Farm, a go-to source for all locally and organically grown transplants for any edible garden, will be selling cool season seedlings.

The event is a collaborative effort of the Skokie Park District, Niles Township High School District 219, the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, village of Skokie, Skokie Public Library and more than 80 helpful volunteers.

Location: Niles North High School, 9800 Lawler, Skokie. For more information, call 847-674-1500, ext. 2500 or visit SkokieSpringGreening.org.
