Celebrate Earth Day in Northbrook

Northbrook Earth Day will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon, April 25. Volunteers are needed to help clean up areas throughout Northbrook, including debris and windblown trash. Clean-up volunteers should meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Village Green Park, on the corner of Shermer and Meadow, to sign up and receive supplies.

An expo will be held from 9 a.m. to noon with more than 50 exhibitors to present information on environmentally friendly products and ideas. There will also be food, live entertainment, pony rides and children’s activities, including Go Green Northbrook’s Earth & Arbor Day Children’s Fair.

Lifesource will be holding an Earth & Arbor Day Blood Drive in the Village Green Center building. Residents can drop off recyclable materials between 8:30 a.m. and noon in the west commuter parking lot, including paint (oil and latex only, no thinners or solvents), molded Styrofoam, tires, CFL and tube fluorescent bulbs, printer cartridges, household batteries, computers, TVs, electronics, new and used household goods for donation to Goodwill and documents for residential, on-site shredding.

To volunteer, call Rob Sabo, assistant to the village manager, at 847-664-4017. For more information, visit Northbrook.IL.us/index.aspx?page=698
