Vipassana Meditation Center Open House

Illinois Vipassana Meditation Center, Dhamma Pakasa, will hold their annual open house event from noon to 4 p.m., May 1, to introduce visitors to the campus and learn more about Vipassana meditation. There will be tours, Q&A, videos, vegetarian food and fun.

Dhamma Pakasa provides a sanctuary for students seeking to enter onto a path of dhamma or deepen their personal practice, and most courses have a waiting list of applicants. Vipassana meditation, which means “to see things as they really are,” is a simple and practical method of mental purification that makes it possible to face the tensions and problems of daily life in a calm and balanced way. It is a systematic way of developing insight and can be practiced by anyone. Instruction in Vipassana meditation is given in 10-day retreats, and courses are supported entirely by the donations of those that wish to contribute for future students.

Location: 10076 Fish Hatchery Rd., Pecatonica, IL. For more information, call 815-489-0420 or visit Pakasa.Dhamma.org.
