A Day of Gardening Wonder in Crystal Lake

McHenry County Gardenfest 2018, presented by University of Illinois Extension McHenry County master gardeners and McHenry County College (MCC), will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 7, at the college. Participants will learn about new garden trends, plants and techniques at this daylong series of seminars and workshops.

     The keynote speaker is Mark Dwyer, director of horticulture at Rotary Botanical Gardens, in Janesville, Wisconsin, discussing The Sensory Garden. Other Gardenfest topics include Developing a Pollinator’s Paradise, Fun and Fabulous Terrariums, Cooking with Herbs, and Feng Shui and Zen Meditation Gardens, in addition to many how-to classes.

      Twenty breakout sessions presented by industry experts, University of Illinois extension educators, master gardeners and MCC instructors will cover a plethora of gardening topics. In addition, dozens of exhibitors will be selling books and garden-related products and demonstrating their crafts.
