Get Kids Off to a Healthy Start at Walsh

Whether they need support for attention issues, anxiety about school, immunizations, the demands of sports or just great ideas for good nutrition, kids of all ages can get ready for a healthy start to the new school year at Healthy Start For Kids, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., August 17, at Walsh Natural Health. Visit with the award-winning Storybook Mom at the store at 10:30 a.m. Later, enjoy a yoga demonstration by Evanston’s Heaven Meets Earth staff and learn about their Yoga for Kids classes.

Test kids’ knowledge of nutrition, sample some yummy (and good for you) smoothies and get recipes for healthy snacks that will keep their energy running efficiently throughout the day. Learn easy ways to read food labels, get quick recipes for healthy meals, discover what supplements can support them and take advantage of discounts on kids’ supplements.

From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., pediatrician Marney Turvill, owner of Healthy Green Goods, will talk about a breakthrough, non-invasive neurofeedback treatment called LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System), which is a way to treat the root cause of symptoms associated with ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury, migraine and many other chronic problems, without the nasty side effects of prescription drugs.
