Boomers Can Learn to Age Wisely

Lynda Hope Dresher

People of all faiths are welcome to join a new Wise Aging six-week peer group in Highland Park after the new year that focuses on making the most of the “third chapter” stage of life. Trained facilitator and Jewish cantor Lynda Hope Dresher says, “These healthy years of aging are not the end; they are full of potential for learning and growth. The Wise Aging program provides new resources and support to live the later years with spirit, resilience and wisdom.”

The foundational text is Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit, by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal. Participants are guided through reflective work that enables them to gain new understandings about their lives, themselves and their values. Learning modalities include text study, meditation, active listening, exercises, reflection and journaling.

Dresher, who trained with the Institute of Jewish Spirituality, is also the cantor at a Har Shalom congregation in Highland Park, and a hospital chaplain and grief recovery specialist. She leads Jewish meditation classes locally.

Cost is $56 (includes textbook). Specific location in Highland Park disclosed upon registration. Class size is limited to 12 people. Register by calling 847-373-7456 or email [email protected]. For more information, visit LyndaDresher.com
