Floatation Therapy Reduces Stress and Helps Healing

Dr. Howard Weissman

Dr. Howard Weissman, who started The Chicago Stress Relief Center in 1994, in Northbrook, states, “My vision was to incorporate holistic and empirically based mind-body practices that could shift the stress response pattern naturally and open the client to a shift in consciousness.” He is a licensed clinical psychologist, health psychologist and a board-certified expert in traumatic stress conditions. Weissman is an expert in the holistic treatment of OCD, PTSD, Stress and Pain syndromes.

Seven years ago, he added the first flotation tank to the center. “It was this unique sensory reduction environment that opened the door to increasing the positive outcomes we were getting for chronic pain and intractable anxiety and depression,” says Weissman. He recently added a second state-of-the-art Ocean Float room, a far-infrared sauna and updated their clinical massage room offering body work that includes deep tissue, cupping, clinical, CranioSacral Therapy, Swedish and reiki.

Weissman’s early career was spent studying with chiropractors, acupuncturists and integrative doctors. “Becoming versed in natural herbs and homeopathy, I learned to offer many alternatives, including Lifeline Therapy and Nero-Emotional Technique,” he notes.
