Chopra's Practices Now Taught in Chicagoland

Dec 28, 2011 ● By Linda Kroll, LCPC, JD

For more than 10 years, the Chopra Center for Wellbeing at the La Costa Spa, in Carlsbad, California, has helped thousands of people from all over the world to enhance their health and nourish their spirit. The center offers a wide variety of individual and group programs in body/mind/spirit medicine and personal development, integrating the best of Western medicine and natural ayurvedic healing traditions to provide an innovative approach to health and the fulfillment of human potential.

Chopra-certified instructors in meditation, yoga, and perfect health are now available in the Chicago area to teach Primordial Sound Meditation, the Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga, and Perfect Health classes.

What are some of the foundations of Chopra’s practices?

Primordial Sound Meditation (PSM) – Chopra co-founders Deepak Chopra and David Simon have revived this ancient practice and have made it available in an easy-to-learn format. As part of learning PSM, individuals receive a personal mantra. A mantra is a specific sound or vibration which, when repeated silently, helps to enter deeper levels of awareness. Your mind is no longer caught up in its noisy internal chatter, and is instead exposed to its own deepest nature: pure awareness.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga is based on Deepak Chopra’s book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. The seven principles correspond to each day of the week, with a corresponding mantra and message. The yoga classes integrate the spiritual messages, along with breathing techniques and movements, to help you attain higher states of consciousness; greater levels of intuition and creativity; increased flexibility and energy relief from stress and anxiety; restful sleep and inner calm; and awakening to your true life’s purpose.

Meditation can heal, enhance and even save your life. A regular meditation practice offers numerous health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, and releasing stress and fatigue. As you become more calm, centered and relaxed, all your relationships can improve, as well. You will notice an increased sense of well-being, as well as greater energy and creativity.

You may also begin to see your intentions manifesting easily as you get answers to the questions: Who am I? What do I truly want? What is my purpose? You will also be more present and aware of the universe offering answers and supportive miracles towards the fulfillment of your soul’s desires.

Meditation can also improve your  level of intuition and creativity and increase your flexibility and energy. It can also help you to obtain relief from stress and anxiety, experience restful sleep and inner calm, and awaken to your true life’s purpose.
