Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station Opens in Highland Park

The city of Highland Park has opened a publicly accessible electric vehicle charging station in the upper level of the Port Clinton parking garage as part of an ongoing effort to transition to more eco-friendly modes of transportation. This project is sponsored in part by Windfree Wind and Solar Energy Company and the Highland Park Ford and Lincoln Dealership.

The installation of an electric vehicle charging station is part of a collaborative effort between the communities of Lake Forest and Skokie to deploy electric vehicle infrastructure throughout the North Shore region. Working together allows drivers of electric vehicles to visit each community knowing that they will have access to a charging station.
