Wild Things 2015 Conference

People that care about the Earth and want to do something about it locally will meet to study, have a good time and develop skills and tools for conserving local wilderness and and habitat at the Wild Things Conference, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., January 31, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Student Center East. More than 90 concurrent large and small group sessions will appeal to a wide range of interests.

Keynote speaker Bill Kleiman, of the Illinois Nature Conservancy, will talk about How the Bison Came Back: Stewards and Scientists Restore Human and Natural Communities at Nachusa Grasslands. There will be presentations and workshops that cover subjects ranging from habitat management, botany and zoology to advocacy, history and backyard ecology.

Open to all, this biennial conference is a rare opportunity to connect like-minded local organizations and individuals committed to conserving land and nature. A detailed schedule is available online.

Early bird tickets are $30 before Jan. 6. Deadline for registration is Jan. 19 at HabitatProject.org/WildThings2015. For more information, call Patricia Hayes at 708-220-9596 or email [email protected].
