Meet AMMA and Get a Hug

Renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi, known simply as “AMMA” (which means “mother”), will be conducting free public programs at her Chicago Ashram from June 23 to 25. Free programs will be held during the day on June 23, and both in the mornings and evenings on June 24 and 25. Amma will host a special Atma Puja for World Peace program on her final evening in Chicago on June 25. During the programs, guests are invited to enjoy individual blessings, inspirational music, meditation, spiritual discourse and delicious Indian dishes and additional healthy food options.

Amma, an internationally revered spiritual leader, humanitarian and philanthropist, has hugged more than 30 million people worldwide. She is renowned for her extraordinary acts of love and self-sacrifice, and for her dedication to love and to service. Amma’s work has raised millions of dollars for hurricane Katrina and tsunami victims, Japan’s disaster relief and for numerous projects in Kenya and throughout India. Amma has built an orphanage in Haiti, and in India, she has built state-of-the-art hospitals that are free to the poor, schools, universities and homes for the poor and needy, medical camps and orphanages.

Amma visits Chicago only once a year. Being with her is an experience that is often described as inspiring and even transformative.
