The Adoption Process from A to Z

Those considering adoption of a child and those ready to start the process may explore the world of adoption through a workshop presented by Sally Wildman, JD, a frequent speaker and Chicago and Northbrook attorney with more than 15 years of experience in this field. Her workshop, The Adoption Process from A to Z, from 7 to 9:15 p.m., April 8, offers a unique opportunity to learn about fundamentals of the adoption process and new trends in this field.

Wildman will distinguish various types of adoption available—agency, private, agency-assisted, related, foreign and foster parent. She identifies key steps required in preparing to adopt a child, including home study, foster parent licensing, interstate process and immigration requirements. Wildman helps people understand factors that determine whether an adoption will be secure.

Wildman also shares best options for selecting community resources, adoption agencies, attorneys, and related professionals. The discussion concludes by considering common needs of adopted children and openness with original family members.

This workshop is offered by District 211 Continuing Education, Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Rd., Palatine. This program is open to the public.
