Inner Child Connections Resolves Emotional Issues

When we ignore our subconscious mind, we’re not able to find peace and resolution in our life. This statement is the basis for the emotional healing that Funda Kahn facilitates at Inner Child Connections, in Northbrook. Using hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Huna philosophy principles, and other tools, Kahn helps clients to discover and connect with their inner child and move forward.

“Hypnosis is an education and communication process to the person’s mind that allows the conscious and subconscious minds to agree. It is a natural state that a person experiences several times throughout the day. During hypnosis, the physical body and conscious mind are in a relaxed state, while the subconscious mind remains in a heightened state of suggestibility,” says Kahn. It’s medically approved by the American Psychiatric Association and the British Medical Association as a viable therapeutic tool.

Kahn works with clients to heal unresolved emotional issues that are controlling their life that may manifest as chronic physical pain, anxiety, depression, autoimmune conditions or post-traumatic stress disorder. “Most of these things that are holding us back come from childhood trauma. That doesn’t have to be something severe, like physical abuse or neglect, but can be as subtle as a single word or phrase that resonated with negative belief systems and patterns,” says Kahn.

Kahn, who holds oral and maxillofacial surgery degrees and certifications in medical hypnotherapy, EFT and stress management, focuses on giving her clients the tools to be able to heal themselves. She guides them through self-hypnosis, sleep hypnosis and stress reduction, based on personality types. Kahn teaches can energy psychology technique called EFT. “EFT Tapping is a safe, gentle, highly effective self-help technique to reduce stress, address limiting beliefs, and remove emotional blocks that prevent us from living a full, peaceful, and happy life,” says Kahn. It involves gently stimulating certain trigger points on the top of the head, face, and other parts of the body to stimulate the energy meridians and send comforting messages so the body can react in a calm, relaxed, way.

Much of Kahn’s training stems from the Huna philosophy, a theory of metaphysics that is based on seven basic principles that can be loosely translated as: the world is what you think it is, there are no limits, energy flows where attention goes, now is the moment of power, to love is to be happy, all power comes from within and effectiveness is the measure of truth.

Kahn worked for years in an oral surgery office and saw firsthand how unconscious feelings manifested themselves. “I witnessed the expression of our patients’ fears, anxieties, panic attacks and emotions on an almost daily basis. The sedative agents pushed to release their built-up feelings, and I saw a strong expression of emotions, even when there was no pain and the surgery was going perfectly. I wanted to reach out and find out how I could help to ease the emotional pain that was triggered in the dental environment or in other potentially traumatic places,” says Kahn.

Through hypnosis, EFT and neurolinguistic programming, Kahn helps people find their own healing power. “Consciousness is the parent. Subconciousness is the inner child. Once you understand who the inner child is, you can connect to it and start changing your old belief systems and patterns,” says Kahn.
