Learn About Feathered Friends at Green Festival

Nonprofit A Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, Inc., will be participating in the Green Festival, May 18 and 19, at Navy Pier, with a booth and presentation of birds at the Kids’ Zone from 2 to 3 p.m., both days. People are welcome to seek help and advice, learn how to volunteer or just talk about their parrots.

The Glenview-based group rescues parrots, performs rehabilitation of relinquished parrots and facilitates adoption of those birds found to be ready for their own family, says founder Richard Weiner. The refuge provides boarding and grooming services and permanent sanctuary for those birds that are unable to make the transition to companion animal. They also educate the public about these magnificent beings at schools and community events.
