Deborah Niemann

Deborah Niemann, a homesteader, writer and self-sufficiency expert from Illinois, has been nominated for a Foreword Book of the Year award in the Home & Garden category for her book, Ecothrifty: Cheaper, Greener Choices for a Happier, Healthier Life. In the book, Niemann calls readers to action and provides both the tools and encouragement to help live healthier lives, saving money and the planet.

The finalists were selected from 1,300 entries covering 62 categories of books from independent and academic presses. Over the next two months, a panel of 60 judges, librarians and booksellers will determine the winners. Niemann is also the author of Homegrown & Handmade, A Practical Guide to More Self-Reliant Living, a finalist in the Home & Garden category last year.
