Celebrating Latina Culture

The Windy City will celebrate its diverse and broad cultural appeal from June 1 through 3 at Gourmet Mexico and the Chicago Latina Expo. Gourmet Mexico will feature top chefs from the different regions of Mexico on June 1. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Chicago’s largest Latina Lifestyle Expo will take place June 2 and 3 at the UIC Forum, featuring seminars, workshops, a culinary oasis, a marketplace and more. Complimentary screenings, exams, vision, bone density testing, Zumba, Zen meditation and healthy cooking classes with some of most renowned chefs from Latin American and Chicago are included. The Expo will also feature fitness workshops, health and wellness vendors, fashion and beauty vendors as well as guidance on empowerment, careers, technology, beauty, health and wellness, cooking, travel and more.

Founder Cesar Rolón states, “Latinas are outpacing Latino males in their educational pursuits and career development, are overwhelmingly the decision-makers in household spending, have surpassed the proportion of non-Hispanic white families with children, and through their youth and increased incomes, have become an attractive consumer segment who is being actively courted by marketers.”
