Learn About Local Eating and Locavores

Wisconsin locavores Scott and Sandy Masker will talk about Growing, Gathering and Storing your own food, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., November 11, at The Edgar Cayce Holistic Center at Unity Northwest Church, in Des Plaines.

Among Edgar Cayce’s contributions to our health was his advice to be what is now called a “locavore” (not his term), meaning eating locally produced food. In this Fall Taste and Talk session, Scott and Sandy will share some of the flavors from this season, which Scott describes as “a great success (except for snap peas).” Learn how it’s done and how it tastes when it’s done right. The pair will answer questions and share recipes.

Admission is $35/$30 A.R.E. members. Location: 259 E. Central Rd. To register, call 847-299-6535 or email [email protected].
