Community Resilience is Bioneers Conference Focus at Roosevelt University

Great Lakes Bioneers Chicago presents the second annual Bioneers Network Event, Celebrating Community Resilience, from November 1 to 3, at the Roosevelt University Chicago Campus. We are all Bioneers, and everyone is invited to come together to inspire a shift in the way we live on this planet that honors the web of life, each other and future generations.

The gathering incorporates music, dance, poetry and more than 30 workshops, skill-shares and interactive discussions led by Chicago-area sustainable living professionals. National keynote speakers who will also interact with attendees include author and ecologist Sandra Steingraber; human ecologist and author John Michael Greer; National Bioneer David Orr, author and creator of the Oberlin sustainability project; and bee expert Gunther Hauk, of the Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary (see article in the September issue of Natural Awakenings).

Six participatory workshops will be held on water, waste, energy, food, shelter and community resilience on Friday. Saturday’s panel moderators include Chicago’s WCPT radio host Mike Nowak and WBEZ radio’s Monica Eng. Saturday and Sunday will feature an onsite bookstore and an exhibit hall showcasing Chicago’s change makers.
