Fair Trade Holiday Gift Boutique at Deerfield UMC

Sue August at the 2012 Boutique

Christ United Methodist Church Deerfield is hosting its third annual Fair Trade Gift Boutique from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., November 9 and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., November 10, featuring items handcrafted by artisans in developing countries. The proceeds go directly to the artisans, increasing the men’s and women’s ability to purchase needed improvements in health, housing and education, while decreasing their vulnerability to human trafficking, HIV/AIDS and violence.

Shoppers will find items from eclectic to exquisite, created from natural, recycled and sustainable materials, including jewelry, scarves, handbags, apparel, housewares, soaps, ornaments, home décor items and more. The sale presents a wonderful opportunity to purchase holiday gifts and help people break out of poverty at the same time.

Location: 600 Deerfield Rd., Deerfield. For more information, email Jan Rodriguez at [email protected] or visit ChristUmcDeerfield.org. Also visit North Suburban Fair Trade Network on Facebook.
