November is Epilepsy Awareness Month

The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago observes National Epilepsy Awareness Month in November with events to raise awareness about the 130,000 residents affected by seizure disorder.

An art display November 6 and 7, at the Thompson Center in Chicago, showcases work from Studio E: The Epilepsy Art Therapy Project. CTA posters and signage on the Red, Blue and Pink line trains and some bus lines state, “Epilepsy is more common than you think: Treat every brain the same.”

Stand up for Epilepsy, a night of comedy, will be held November 8 at Northern Illinois University, in Naperville. Entertainers include Stand Up creator Pat McGann, James Davis, from Chelsea Lately, and Jonathan Kite, from Two Broke Girls.

The Epilepsy Consumer Conference starts at 8 a.m., November 16, at the Crowne Plaza Chicago. The free, all-day conference includes sessions with leading medical experts sharing the latest information for the community, individuals and families affected by epilepsy.
