Bountiful Eatery Serving Gluten-Free Menu

Bountiful Eatery, Chicago’s first completely gluten-free restaurant, is now open at 3312 N. Broadway, in Lakeview, with fresh and healthy options for patrons such as salads, frozen fruit smoothies, kabobs and pita-wrapped sandwiches.

Owner Ed O’Brien was diagnosed with gluten intolerance in February and wanted his restaurant to showcase gluten-free items to help those living with a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. Celiac is an autoimmune disorder that affects one out of every 133 Americans, according to the National Foundation for Celiac Wellness, and research shows these numbers to be increasing dramatically. This disease is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley.
