Greg Bell, LAc
Greg Bell, Lac, presents a 10-week Tai chi series beginning September 12 from 8 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays, and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., Fridays, at Evanston’s Heaven Meets Earth Yoga.
This course series offers hands-on instruction in a small group setting for the first third of the Yang style Tai chi. Bell will present the general history, meaning, and philosophy of Tai chi and its place in Chinese culture. Students will learn postures to begin to develop their own Tai chi practice, and each class in the series builds on the former. Yang Style Tai chi places emphasis on principles, body mechanics and the resulting health benefits including stress reduction and improved range of motion, coordination, balance, energy and concentration.
Bell is a certified Tai chi instructor, acupuncturist and clinical bodyworker. He graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, in Chicago, with a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine degree. His understanding of acupuncture theory and Oriental medicine give him a unique perspective unfamiliar to most martial arts instructors, on the meanings of Tai chi postures and applications and how they provide health benefits.
Cost: $150 for 10-Week series. Location: 2746 Central St., Evanston. Private appointments in Tai chi and acupuncture are available. For more information and to register, call 847-475-1500, or visit HeavenMeetsEarthYoga.com.
