Go Green and Celebrate Spring in Wilmette

Presented by Go Green Wilmette and the village of Wilmette, the annual Going Green Matters Community Environmental Fair will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., March 10, at the Woman’s Club of Wilmette.

Indoors, enjoy an expanded Eco Zone, challenge the Eco Myth Buster, see bees and animals from the Highland Park’s Heller Nature center and identify invasive species or birds using binoculars. Outdoors, examine the latest eco cars and commuter bikes or help plant the first seeds of the season.

Then “Talk it Up” with area policymakers or taste the wares of local restaurants in the Go Green Café. Get advice from local businesses on the plentiful array of eco light bulbs, improving home energy efficiency and organic gardening. Find out what local businesses, schools and community groups are doing to go green and bring discarded electronics, bikes and children’s books for recycling.
