Become a Yoga Warrior, Help Our Veterans

Yoga Warriors International (YWI) first began serving combat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in 2005. A 16-hour YWI teacher training will be held April 5 and 6 in Northbrook.

Cathy Pisano, RYT, YWTT, is facilitating the training. At the completion of the workshop, each yoga teacher at the 200- or 500-hour level receives a Yoga Warriors International teaching certificate and 16 CEUs offered by the National Yoga Alliance. All others receive a certificate of attendance. This program is also approved by the National Association of Social Workers for 16 social work continuing education contact hours.

Based on her personal experience with returning combat vets, Pisano is on a mission to help men and women that suffer from delayed PTSD through yoga. It has since become her personal passion, goal and ultimate reward to make a positive difference in the lives of others affected in this way.

The sensory-enhanced Yoga Warriors Method has grown to meet the needs of veterans with combat stress (COSR) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI), active duty military personnel, as well as first-responders.

Cost is $495. Location: The Cancer Wellness Center, 215 Revere Dr., Northbrook. Event not sponsored by the Center. For more information, call 847-372-8683, email [email protected] or visit YogaWarriors.com.
