Bahr’s Greenhouses Open For Spring Season

Bahr’s has opened for another season, offering area residents the finest in locally grown annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and houseplants. Located in Highland Park, Bahr’s has operated each spring and summer since it was established in 1894 by the Bahr family, and is Highland Park’s oldest family-run business.

Tom Bahr, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, continue the family tradition, having opened after the long winter in late April. Early spring weekend hours will expand to daily hours as the days continue to warm up.

Most of the plants at Bahr’s, including vegetable flats, are grown onsite in their fully operating greenhouses. The Bahrs know all of their additional growers and only accept plants of the highest quality, according to Tom. They offer a wide selection of perennials, geraniums, begonias and hibiscus, as well as vines, coleus and container-friendly plants. Tom adds, “We get personal with our customers so we know what they like, what will work for them and how best to help them.”

Pre-planted container and hanging planters are available in many sizes and can be made to order. Bahr’s also offers many houseplants, including a wide variety of cacti and succulents.
