GRAZE Release Party ~ October 18

Oct 09, 2014 ● By Megy Karydes

Graze, the Chicago-based, food-focused literary magazine, will be releasing its sixth issue on October 18. If you’re not familiar with the magazine, head to your favorite local indie bookshop and grab a copy. Unlike traditional food print magazine, this one is more about the art of food ~ from long narratives, poetry to illustrations.

The release party has been aptly named after a feature in the issue: Golden Delicious.

According to Associate Editor Anthony Todd, Issue 6 of Graze paints pictures of women in the kitchen in the twenty-first century. “You won't find June Cleaver in these 96 pages,” he says. “Instead, you will meet an entrepreneurial marshmallow magnate, a top-notch chef with a defiant notion of love, a mother reflecting on food at intervals of her pregnancy. Women rewrite the rules on the kitchen every day; issue six aims to tell their stories, along with the stories of others who have had transformative and defining experiences with food and the written word.”

The entrance fee of $10 grants you access to the part, a complimentary of the latest issue of Graze magazine, food from Goddess & Grocer, Katherine Anne Confections, Cellar Door Provisions and Heartland Café.  Drinks will be provided by Letherbee Distillery, Lagunitas and Kimbell Brewing. Musical guests include Ariel Upton and Knife and Fork. To learn more about the event, visit grazemagazine.org and sign up for their email list. Details will be shared via email.

In keeping with tradition, Graze will be hosting a raffle, including prizes from:

  • Midwest Roots
  • Independent Spirits
  • River Valley Kitchens
  • Jerry's Sandwiches
  • Dryhop Brewing
  • FEW spirits
  • Ale Syndicate

Celebrate the success of Graze and support independent magazines in Chicago. We'll be there ~ and hope to see you, too!
