Help Evanston Win the Earth Hour Challenge

The city of Evanston has been named one of three finalists, along with Cleveland and Seattle, to represent the United States in the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Earth Hour City Challenge. Finalists were chosen because of their progress to date in transitioning toward a climate-friendly future. Everyone now has an opportunity to vote online for the challenge winner.

The city that advances as the U.S. Earth Hour City Capital will receive funding from WWF for local climate readiness efforts and go on to compete with cities from 16 other countries for the title of Global Earth Hour Capital.

Evanston’s selection recognizes a 100 percent renewable energy program for residents and small businesses and an ambitious climate action goal to reduce the community’s greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2016.
