Conserve Lake County to Host Prairie Harvest Celebration

The ninth annual Prairie Harvest Celebration fundraiser will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., September 13 at Deerpath Farm, a conservation community, in Mettawa. It’ll feature local food, live music, nature and local heritage demonstrations as well as an opportunity to socialize with fun people that care about our county and conservation.

Deerpath Farm began in 1922 as a Lake Forest family’s countryside retreat and thriving dairy farm. In the late 1930s it was purchased by Edward H. Bennett (the co-author of the 1909 Plan of Chicago, with Daniel Burnham), who left it in a natural state. The Bennett family’s civic planning heritage and longstanding love of Deerpath Farm’s natural beauty inspired the rare conservation community now enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
