Join a Community Supported Agriculture Program

Band of Farmers: The Chicagoland CSA Coalition can help people find the community supported agriculture (CSA) program that best fits their needs. Some farms are still accepting summer memberships now, and more are offering fall and winter CSA plans to fill the gap after the local farmers’ market or current CSA ends.

CSA creates a direct relationship with a local farm in which subscribers purchase a share of their harvest. This usually takes the form of a weekly box of vegetables delivered nearby and may include meats, eggs or fruit. The benefits are many: subscribers receive fresh, nutrient-dense foods grown close to home, learn about the joys and challenges of farming, and keep their food dollars in the local economy.
