Guided Tree and Prairie Walk in Centennial Park

Go Green Wilmette will add a prairie walk to its fourth annual guided tree walk from 1 to 2 p.m., October 2, in Centennial Park, to highlight the success of this mixed-use parkland’s wide variety of trees, two-acre prairie garden and community gardens. Participants will learn to identify a variety of trees and native plants that thrive in northern Illinois.

Go Green Wilmette is partnering with the Wilmette Park District and the village of Wilmette for this family-friendly event that will cover the basics of how to protect trees against environmental stresses, the benefits of planting native trees and plants and which of those might work best in our own yards.

Admission is free and dogs on leashes are welcome. Meet at the park north of the Centennial Pool at 2300 Old Glenview Rd., in Wilmette. For more information, visit GoGreenWilmette.org.
