Clean Water for a Healthier Body

Sep 26, 2016 ● By Carrie Jackson

Karol Dolega’s fascination with clean drinking water started with his desire to maximize his own hydration. As a world record-holding marathon runner, Dolega wanted to get the most benefit out of the water he was drinking to improve his performance. After much research, he founded ProEcoLife, in Chicago, to provide healthy, clean, good-tasting water, educate people about water quality and build a community of its customers.

Dolega has trained and run marathons all over the world, but noticed that in places like Switzerland, where they have a reputation for clean water, he performed better in spite of higher altitudes. When he moved to the U.S. from Europe, he was not happy with the tap water. “I was developing allergies and my muscles and ligaments weren’t recovering as quickly. Proper hydration helps the body to function optimally, and that means water that is clean and free of chemicals,” he says.

ProEcoLife offers a variety of filter options and filtration systems, all tailored to offer the best water quality, whether for a deep water well or an urban water supply. “Our customers get peace of mind knowing they’re drinking water free of lead, barium and other heavy metals, fluoride, pesticides and herbicides, hormones, steroids and drugs, radioactive substances and all other impurities,” says Dolega. Eighty percent of all diseases have a direct connection with the water we drink, but many consumers don’t realize that. “The levels of toxins and chemicals in most water are alarming, and are thought to cause cancer and other serious diseases,” says Dolega.

Unique to the industry, they use a filter made with shungite stone that employs fullerene molecules consisting of several dozens of carbon atoms to fight free radicals by mimicing natural spring water and reverse osmosis to purify the water. “The filtration process is a multi-stage procedure,” says Dolega. “The first stage removes the big impurities using a high-end, natural carbon filter made from coconut trees. The second stage pushes the water through a reverse osmosis membrane, which cleans it down to a grade that’s as pure as what they use in the Army.”

The filters have a warranty of 10 to 15 years, and Dolega makes it a point to develop relationships with his customers. “They’re not just getting a product; they’re getting a service. We offer free installation, 24-hour support, a monitor system, education and anything else our customers need,” he says. “Families that used to spend hundreds of dollars a month on bottled water are now going back to using tap water, which in addition to saving money, takes all those empty plastic bottles out of landfills.”

Dolega encourages people to learn the facts about the water they’re consuming and become educated about the quality and purity. “Chicago publishes a Water Quality Report every year which lists microbial and inorganic contaminants including barium, copper, lead and nitrate, and radioactive contaminants such as radium. Some of the lead levels in the Chicago Public School System (CPS) are 300 times the allowable limit. Only about a third of the CPS schools have water that is lead-free,” says Dolega.

ProEcoLife offers systems for any size home or business, whether it’s a private apartment, multi-family home or large office structure. “We can customize and scale the products to fit any space. We do a lot of work in restaurants and catering businesses, but also in schools and office buildings. We have affordable payment plans that will save our customers money in the long run because they’re not buying bottled water and they’re feeling healthier overall,” says Dolega.
