10th Annual Globalfest Celebrates Fair Trade Principles

Globalfest, a gala event featuring a silent auction, small bites, craft beer, fair trade cocktails and wine, will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m., November 18, at the National Museum of Mexican Art to celebrate 10 years of fair trade advocacy, leadership and growth in Chicago.

        Dual Changemaker Awards will be presented to Metropolis Coffee Company and Dr. Rachelle Ankney because both have demonstrated innovative leadership in the local fair trade community and dedication to advancing Chicago Fair Trade’s mission in the past year. Jerome McDonnell, host of the WBEZ Worldview program and an ardent supporter of fair trade, will serve as emcee.

        Chicago Fair Trade has more than 75 members, including businesses, nonprofit organizations, faith-based groups, educational institutions, students and individual activists. They all work to increase support for fair trade in the Chicago metro area through education, advocacy and consumer campaigns.
