Festival Celebrates International Migratory Bird Day

Apr 25, 2017 11:14PM

Spring bird migration is well underway, and the International Migratory Bird Day Celebration offers participants many ways to welcome back birds, learn more about bird migration and ways to get involved. They can watch bird banding, meet a raptor, plant a shrub, join a bird walk or tour a bird-friendly planting from 9 to 11:30 a.m., May 20.

Guests will enjoy learning about and seeing birds migrating from Mexico, South and Central America and the Caribbean, participate in family activities, learn how they can help birds, network with local conservation organizations and more. Refreshments will be available.

This event is part of the “Chicago Urban Treaty Project,” funded through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration program, provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Urban Bird Treaty program.

Admission is free. Location: LaBagh Woods (Cicero, just north of Foster, in Chicago). For more information, visit fpdcc.com/imbd and fpdcc.com/birding.
