The city of Highwood will be hosting the eighth annual Fall Festival kickoff event, the Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival, from October 6 through 8 downtown. They are trying to beat the Guinness World Record of 30,581 Jack-O-Lanterns carved and lit at the same time. It’s an amazing sight to behold.

All proceeds go to Make-A-Wish Illinois and each night, a Make-A-Wish family lights the grand walls and represents the organization.

The event features 20 musical acts on three stages, trick-or-treating, Costume Contests, a Pumpkin Parade, hayrides, a petting zoo, kids’ crafts, food and beverage vendors, a Superhero 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk plus hay, pony and carnival rides. All lit Jack-O-Lanterns will be placed on pumpkin walls throughout the festival grounds, with ceremonial wall lightings Friday and Saturday night, and the grand lighting on Sunday evening.

Admission: $3 per person or $5 for a weekend pass that includes all-you-can-carve pumpkins. For detailed information, visit HighwoodPumpkinFest.com.
