SPYRL Offers Fall Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Instruction

SPYRL is conducting a six-week course, All Level Gyrokinesis, from 10 to 10:55 a.m. Fridays, from October 5 through November 6, in Highland Park. They are also adding a new Beginning Gyrokinesis course, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, from October 2 through November 6, which will be broken down in sections focusing on the different portions of the spine: October 2 and 9, Decompression of the Lumbar Spine; October 16 and 20, Decompression of the Thoracic Spine; and October 30 and November 6, Decompression of the Cervical Spine.

The Gyrotonic Expansion System is a cutting-edge movement system that addresses the entire body, incorporating principles of yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and tai chi. Exercises are circular and three-dimensional, unlike other movement systems that tend to be linear and isolated. Each movement flows into the next, allowing joints to move naturally without any jarring or compression. The movement system consists of two separate, but complementary methods: the Gyrotonic method and the Gyrokinesis method.

Gyrotonic exercises are performed on machines and Gyrokinesis exercises are performed on a stool and mat. Spyrl also offers private, individual Gyrotonic sessions on the Gyrotonic equipment.

The Gyrotonic method is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire person, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and improving strength and movement efficiency. Gyrotonic exercises are performed on machines.
