The Edgar Cayce Holistic Center, in Des Plaines, will offer Egyptian Energy Forms classes led by instructor Lino Brescia from 7 to 8 p.m. on Fridays from January 23 through February 27. Participants will learn and practice 12 basic forms along with the breathing technique used in this tradition.

Qigong is commonly regarded as a Chinese practice focused on consciously cultivating life force energy through breathwork, meditation and structured movement. According to practitioners, similar approaches were also used in ancient Egypt, where life force energy was called “Ka”, and certain poses in Egyptian art are believed to depict qigong-related energy postures.

Supporters of Egyptian energy forms say each movement creates a specific energetic structure intended to help alleviate stagnant energy and support physiological and spiritual well-being. Reported benefits include improved intuitive abilities, cleansing of chakras and meridians, and cultivating a field of energetic protection. Brescia, who has practiced and taught the forms for the past decade, says he has developed the ability to focus, magnify and project this energy art form.

Cost: Each class is $25. Location: 259 E. Central Rd., Des Plaines. For more information or to register, call 847-299-6535 or visit
