Celebrate Earth Day in Northbrook

Join the village of Northbrook and the Northbrook Park District to celebrate Earth and Arbor days from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., April 20 (rain or shine), on the Village Green at the corner of Shermer and Meadow roads, in downtown Northbrook. Cleanup teams meet at 8:30 a.m. on the Village Green and will be assigned specific areas to collect debris and windblown trash. This year, there will be six cleanup areas in which a special item is hidden that can be redeemed for a prize.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., attendees can take in the exhibits, information about local farmers, home weatherization demonstrations, giveaways, free tree seedlings, pony rides and entertainment. For exciting new ideas and cost-effective, Earth-friendly ways to conserve energy, save money and help the environment, come to Northbrook’s Earth and Arbor Day celebration.

A recycling collection and document shredding will take place at the west side commuter parking lot by the METRA station, near the corner of Walters and Shermer roads.
