Stand Up for Clean Solar Jobs

Mar 26, 2015 ● By Lisa Albrecht

Illinois is at an energy crossroads. Our state has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build an innovative, clean electricity system that costs less, delivers reliable power and creates tens of thousands of good paying jobs. The Illinois Clean Jobs Bill (SB1485/HB2607) is comprehensive, bipartisan legislation which will result in greater costs savings to consumers, a cleaner environment for all of us.

Once its standards are fully implemented, the bill will generate an estimated 32,000 new jobs per year in Illinois, as well as $21 billion in state economic development. By raising efficiency standards to 20 percent by 2025 and aiming to generate 35 percent of our energy from clean sources by 2030, Illinois will become the clean energy hub of the Midwest.

Contact legislators and tell them we must pass SB1485/HB2607 in May. For more details, including an informational video, visit ilenviro.org/clean-energy-jobs-bill.
