Urban and Small Farm Growing Power Conference

More than 200 of the nation's best-known food system experts will share their knowledge with farmers, aspiring farmers and urban agriculturists from around the world at the second National-International Urban and Small Farm Growing Power Conference, to be held from September 7 to 9, at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. More than 3,000 participants are expected to attend the weekend symposium of speakers, tours and breakaway work sessions. The conference will provide guidance on how to plan, develop and grow small farms in urban and rural areas, with at least 17 different tracks, or areas of interest, to provide a thorough learning and networking experience for all.

Growing Power started the gathering in 2010 as a forum to cultivate ideas for building healthy and resilient, community-based food systems. "I was especially happy to look out on a crowd that was black and white, young and old, rich and poor," comments Growing Power CEO and Founder Will Allen. "At Growing Power, it is our mission to support people from diverse backgrounds, and the environments in which they live, by helping to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities. We left the conference inspired, and we said that we would meet again in two years to measure our progress in building a 'good food revolution.'"
