New International Food Summit Debuts in Chicago

The inaugural Chicago Food Tank Summit will take place November 16 at the Gleacher Center. Partnering with the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Food Tank will feature heroes like Denise O’Brien and Fred Kirschenmann and food leaders such as David Barber, Monica Eng, Rick Bayless, Angela Mason, Ben Burkett, Alesha Black, Joseph Erbentraut and others discussing topics from running an agricultural business to transparency in the food system. Tickets are now on sale and will sell out quickly.

After the panel discussions, a reception at 5:30 p.m. will be hosted by Eataly, Chef Mario Batali’s sprawling, modern outpost, featuring a range of Italian eateries and food markets. The Bright Spots dinner at 7 p.m. includes a four-course plated dinner prepared by Eataly’s head chef paired with four complementary wines.

One of Food Tank’s major goals is to convene eaters, farmers, businesses, policymakers, entrepreneurs, funders and donors to talk about the challenges and the opportunities they face and highlight what’s working in fields, boardrooms, restaurants, grocery stores, kitchens, laboratories and town halls across the globe.
