Learn Hypnosis as a Second Career

Funda Kahn

Certified hypnosis practitioner Funda Kahn will be offering an eight-week National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH)-certified hypnosis certification class starting from 10 a.m. to noon, April 1, in Northbrook. An introductory session will be held March 30. Illinois requires 70 hours for official certification; this class meets that requirement and also includes training in Emotional Freedom Technique, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Huna Philosophy/inner child, techniques that are not included with most NGH certification courses. Class sizes are small to allow for more personal instruction.

Kahn says, “Hypnosis is a natural state that a person experiences several times throughout the course of a day. During hypnosis, the physical body and and conscious mind are in relaxed state while the subconscious mind remains in a heightened state of suggestibility. Hypnosis is an education-communication process to a person’s mind that allows the conscious and subconscious minds to agree.”

Students enroll in the class for many reasons: a desire to help others, help themselves and make money; start a second career; or get certified and learn a new tool to help others as a practitioner.

Anyone can learn hypnosis, and prior class participants have included physicians, psychologists and massage therapists, as well a police officer, a waitress, a high school basketball coach, a special education teacher, a banker and a mother with an autistic child.
