Examining Human Activity at DePaul Art Museum

The DePaul Art Museum explores the impact of humans on the environment with Climate of Uncertainty, an interactive exhibition running from January 10 to March 24. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., January 10, at the museum.

Twelve artists engaged in long-term projects that address the human role in environmental degradation address the theme through photography, installations, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media. Works in the exhibition reveal ways that individuals, industries and governments have exploited, abused or depleted natural resources and explore alternative approaches to environmental issues by challenging the viewer to imagine a more hopeful future.

A sustainable business conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., January 18, with a curator’s tour at 5 p.m. A panel discussion, The Art and Science of Climate Change, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., January 30. A panel discussion, Coal Country and Beyond, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., February 27. A talk, Technologically Enhanced Nature, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., March 6.
