5Rhythms and Open Floor IN CHICAGO

Karyn Tonkinson Gartner, 5Rhythms and Open Floor-accredited teacher, says, “In 1994, I met Gabrielle, creator of the 5Rhythms Movement Practice, during my own healing journey and the work rocked me to the core. The work was so transformational that I began producing workshops and became an accredited teacher in 1998.”

The Open Floor Movement Practice is based on embodiment through the perspective of the 4x4. The four levels of intelligence: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, and how they weave with the four hungers of relationship—the relationship to ourselves, another, community and spirit.

“Discover your dance with all styles of kick-ass music in a welcoming community,” says Gartner. Open Floor is held from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m., Wednesdays; 5Rhythms is held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sundays, and a 5Rhythms Workshop with live drumming will take place on January 9 at the Mandala Center for Transformational Arts.
