Local Author and Educator Andrew Harvey Wins Nautilus Award

Andrew Harvey

Andrew Harvey has won the 2011 Nautilus Silver Award for Social Change with his book, The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism. Nautilus awards recognize print and audio books that promote spiritual growth, conscious living and positive social change, while stimulating the imagination and offering the reader new possibilities for a better life and a better world.

The Hope reveals how the large-scale practice of Sacred Activism can become an essential way for preserving and healing the planet and its inhabitants. Harvey believes the current crisis at hand drives us towards the positive practice of justice, equality and harmony with nature. He lays out seven laws for Sacred Activism, including what he calls “Networks of Grace” and more.

Harvey is an internationally acclaimed poet, novelist, Rumi translator, mystical scholar and spiritual teacher, with more than 20 books to his credit. Harvey is a fellow of All Souls College Oxford and has taught at Oxford University, Cornell University, The California Institute of Integral Studies and the University of Creation Spirituality. He was the subject of the 1993 BBC film documentary, The Making of a Modern Mystic, and founded the Institute for Sacred Activism in Oak Park, Illinois, where he lives.
