Lake County Fair Offers New Attractions

Attend the event that’s been dubbed A Fair to Remember: the 84th annual Lake County Fair, to be held from July 25 to 29, at the Lake County Fairgrounds, in Grayslake.

This year, the addition of the all-new Chicago Flower & Garden Show will encourage green thumbs to get busy, while a Battle of the Bands will set toes to tapping. Ag Adventure is a brand-new indoor attraction for kids, and two monster truck shows will hog the spotlight on Saturday. Speaking of hogs, there’s a pig wing-eating contest slated at the pig pen.

The Garden Show showcases outdoor gardens created by area landscape designers. Garden vignettes, including in-ground, raised-bed, trellis and container gardens feature perennials and annuals, appropriate for the Midwest and ideas that will make any yard the envy of the neighborhood. Guests may purchase products and services, watch demonstrations and get advice from the pros.

The nonprofit Lake County Fair Association is dedicated to preserving the past, promoting the future and supporting education about agriculture, horticulture, mechanical arts and rural and domestic economics.

On the weekend, bus shuttles will operate regularly between the fairgrounds and the Prairie Crossing Metra Station, in Libertyville. Location: 1060 E. Peterson Rd., Grayslake, IL.
