New Dry Eye Spa Opens at Evanston Eye Wellness

Dr. Deana LaBrosse

Dr. Deana LaBrosse, the owner of Evanston Eye Wellness, has introduced an integrative Dry Eye Center into her practice. “Dry eye disease is not a trivial matter to many people. It is a condition that can dramatically impact the quality and comfort of your life. Although over-the-counter treatments are available, many times they are not effective or even make the problem worse,” says LaBrosse.

The Dry Eye Spa is used to provide in-office treatments such as Meibomian gland expression to treat lipid deficiency and microexfoliation for eyelid inflammation. New patients will receive a comprehensive dry eye assessment that includes a symptom questionnaire; a review of systemic medical conditions and medications; non-invasive tear layer and gland imaging; and other tests.

Using state-of-the-art technology, LaBrosse is able to determine the causes of a patient’s dry eyes and work with them on an integrative treatment plan. Individualized treatment options may include nutritional supplementation; eyelid hygiene instructions; botanical eyelid treatments or eye washes; and moist-heat eyelid compresses.

LaBrosse has served as the public health trustee for the Illinois Optometric Association and as an examiner for the National Board of Optometry. Named Young Optometrist of the Year by the Illinois Optometric Association in 2008, she participates in the InfantSEE program and volunteers for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program.
