Ovarian Cancer Group Forms to Offer Hope and Friendship

A new ovarian cancer discussion group will meet at Highland Park Hospital in a non-clinical setting from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the fourth Monday of every month, beginning June 24, to provide a comfortable, friendly atmosphere for women both in and out of treatment to gain more knowledge and hope. This group will serve as a social and discussion group, rather than a traditional “support” group.

The annual fundraising event for the Foundation for Women’s Cancer will be held September 22 at Arlington Park Race Course. More than $50,000 has been raised in the last two years to fund a grant for Ovarian Cancer research. A local group, WeRoc (Women Encouraging Research for Ovarian Cancer), is the creation of several survivors.

The WeRoc group is looking for additional sponsors and partners. For more information and to join the discussion group, call Barbara Feldman at 847-910-6801.
