Glam without the Garbage at Noktivo, a Natural Beauty Destination

Jenny Duranski owns Noktivo, a natural beauty boutique and spa, in Chicago. Noktivo is the Midwest’s first and only completely green, healthy beauty destination that offers non-toxic alternatives. Their new, permanent location is slated to open in August.

Noktivo offers natural manicures and pedicures, and a wide range of organic, vegan and non-toxic beauty products meant to keep people and the environment healthy and beautiful. The spa and boutique avoids synthetic ingredients, and Duranski notes, “A lot of research is boiling up that represents a direct link to what we put on our skin and our health. So we choose product lines that don’t contain harmful ingredients.”

Because of this strict standard, Duranski estimates that the spa has prevented one ton of toxic chemicals from entering the environment within its first year of business. 

At Duranski’s job as a nail technician, the chemicals she breathed in all day caused headaches, skin rashes, nausea and difficulty breathing. She spent several years planning before opening Noktivo, and is proud to use local suppliers for 75 percent of her needs.
