New Youth Sports Camp with a Yoga Twist

This summer’s new Matrix Sports Camp provides overnight and extended day options and includes organic meals for elementary and preteen students. Two sessions will be offered, from July 21 to 25 and July 28 to August 1. Daily activities take place at Glenbard North High School, in Carol Stream, and overnight campers stay at the nearby Holiday Inn each night.

Their slogan, “Where outer game meets inner game,” gives a clue to its unique twist. This camp has added goals of teaching young athletes how to seize the day in a holistic way with a focus on mental and emotional skills that support peak performance and daily stress management.

At the five-day camp, second-to-ninth-graders choose three sports for their personalized “outer game” curriculum. Along with in-between instruction sessions and lots of fun activities, campers also learn “inner game” tools such as journaling, yoga, meditation, intention setting, affirmations and visualizations.

Sports include archery, badminton, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, dance, fencing, football, golf, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.

Register by Apr. 1 and receive $50 off camp tuition. For more information, call 630-337-7452 or visit MatrixSportsCamp.com or MatrixWellnessClub.com.
