Learn About Permaculture and Food Security

The nonprofit Resiliency Institute brings permaculture to the Chicago suburbs via evening and weekend classes, certification courses, potlucks and Growing Food Security projects. Courses are open to everyone.

Registration is now open for several March programs, including Nourish through the Seasons, Pruning Fruit Trees and Introduction to Permaculture. They’re also offering a Spring Equinox celebration with a Shinrin-Yoku Forest Therapy walk that includes a guided forest walk and meditation.

In the spring and summer, participants can get their hands dirty by volunteering at one of their Growing Food Security projects. These projects demonstrate how permaculture design can transform underutilized land into edible forest gardens that grow community food security by bringing back the food commons where foraging is encouraged. Through tours and classes, participants will begin the process of reconnecting with nature, food and their neighbors.
